Discovery Tools for The Blind

I am very grateful and proud for having chance to gain high school education in one of the best schools in Indonesia, which is Brilliant Class (BC) program in BPK PENABUR GadingSerpong High School.

Why proud? Because of teachers’ merit in BC, many prestigious achievements have been reached by BC’s students, both in national and international level.

When I first entered grade 10 in high school, 4 of my seniors in grade 12 achieved international awards. They won the competition:

  • International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2017 – Ferris Prima Nugraha
  • International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2017 – Otto Alexander Sutianto
  • International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) 2017 – Mario Lorenzo
  • First Winner of LombaKaryaIlmiahRemaja (LKIR) 2017 in Science and Engineering Field – Jane Carolyne Hantanto. Her work is Wave Modulation Exploration to Turn Colors into Sounds Using Arduino as Color Recognition Method for People with Visual Impairments. She was chosen to represent Indonesia as one of the finalists in Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) 2018 in America.

My Senior in BC

I am glad and proud to see my seniors win and also feel their euphoria. As a junior, seeing all of their achievements motivated me to study harder.

Jane Carolyne was in one dorm with me. She is very kind, loving, and passionate. I called her Mommy because she cares and gives examples for me, especially her closeness to God makes her life story a blessing and strength for me when I am away from my parents.

Jane said that she started her research from her senior’s experience. Her senior failed to enter the university entrance exam because of failing the color blind test. The ability to identify colors, which most people consider as insignificant, is a precious thing for people who suffer blindness and color blindness.
